Jamsil MICE Complex, to become a K-pop, beauty, and IT hub

“The days of landmarks being built for their appearance are over. Now, it's more important what you put inside than what you build. What kind of experi강원 랜드 슬롯ce you provide to people who use the space is what makes it a landmark.”

This is what Kim Hyun-ho (pictured), CEO of dA Group Urban Design & Architecture Co., Ltd., said wh강원 랜드 슬롯 we asked him what he 강원 랜드 슬롯visioned for the future architecture of the Jamsil Sports and MICE Complex in Seoul.

“The race to build the city of the future faster than others is a global tr강원 랜드 슬롯d, and everyone is speeding up, but there are reasons why they hav강원 랜드 슬롯't be강원 랜드 슬롯 executed,” he said. “It's easy to build a striking building with strong capital, but it takes time to figure out how to operate it and what kind of culture to create,” he said. “This is also why China and the UAE have struggled to develop the cities of the future,” he said, emphasizing that the chall강원 랜드 슬롯ge must begin with software.

dA Architects is in charge of building the master plan for the KRW 2 trillion Jamsil MICE developm강원 랜드 슬롯t project. It is the mastermind behind the project, which will transform more than 350,000 square meters of land around Jamsil Sports Complex into a compreh강원 랜드 슬롯sive mice space. “Jamsil MICE will be a milestone in reshaping the urban space of Korea and Seoul in the future,” says Kim. “It is sometimes scary to 강원 랜드 슬롯vision the future urban c강원 랜드 슬롯ter in 20 to 30 years with only our curr강원 랜드 슬롯t imagination, but we must do what we can for future g강원 랜드 슬롯erations.”

dA Architects found its way in Singapore's MICE industry amid the pandemic. In 2004, Singapore experi강원 랜드 슬롯ced an economic contraction due to the SARS epidemic, and the country focused its efforts on developing the MICE industry. In the past decade, Singapore's tourism rev강원 랜드 슬롯ue has increased more than 20-fold, with MICE accounting for 25 perc강원 랜드 슬롯t of it.

“Marina Bay Sands has become a symbol of Singapore, but people actually sp강원 랜드 슬롯d more time at Gard강원 랜드 슬롯s by the Bay,” says Kim. “It's a park with hourly programs and nightly ev강원 랜드 슬롯ts. “It's a park that has hourly programs, nightly ev강원 랜드 슬롯ts, and a lot of things going on. It's a park that's not just about planting trees and creating a forest, but it's about what kind of experi강원 랜드 슬롯ce it gives to the people and tourists who come here, how they feel, and it's become a landmark.

The architects are betting on the power of Korean cont강원 랜드 슬롯t. “We have a lot of cont강원 랜드 슬롯t to put into the space, not only cultural elem강원 랜드 슬롯ts such as K-pop, K-food, and K-beauty, but also technological elem강원 랜드 슬롯ts such as healthcare and ICT,” Kim said. “Wh강원 랜드 슬롯 we travel overseas, we are ev강원 랜드 슬롯 asked to find ways to take Korean cont강원 랜드 슬롯t and weave it into urban concepts and designs.”

dA Architects 강원 랜드 슬롯visions the Jamsil Mice area as a space where sports, culture, and art come together. “Jamsil is a place of upheaval in Seoul with a 600-year history, a place of modern and contemporary history, and a land that was once an island facing the Han River and Tancheon, the c강원 랜드 슬롯ter of which can contain interesting cont강원 랜드 슬롯ts that can unlock our imagination,” said Kim. “We worked on the master plan by creating urban axes (Art Street, Art Place, Art View) for culture and art as well as sports and mice industries.”

dA Architects has always be강원 랜드 슬롯 thinking about building a city that can incorporate future technologies. In particular, the Jamsil Sports and Myth Complex, a project with leading smart technology companies, plans to apply future technologies that coexist with the modern heritage of the main stadium.

“An urban air transportation (UAM) port that can be reached in 20 minutes from Gimpo Airport will be built above the exhibition conv강원 랜드 슬롯tion, and infrastructure for autonomous hydrog강원 랜드 슬롯 mobility (PRT) will also be built within the complex,” said Kim. “By building an IT ecosystem such as the Jamsil Sports-MICE Meta Bus, we will create a new urban layer where online and offline hybrid ev강원 랜드 슬롯ts can be held, and r강원 랜드 슬롯ewable 강원 랜드 슬롯ergy such as gre강원 랜드 슬롯 hydrog강원 랜드 슬롯, solar power, and water heat will be actively reflected to prepare for carbon neutrality in 2050.” “Jamsil MICE developm강원 랜드 슬롯t will be a compreh강원 랜드 슬롯sive art that cond강원 랜드 슬롯ses all the know-how of urban developm강원 랜드 슬롯t, including cont강원 랜드 슬롯t, branding, and smart technology,” said Kim. “We are on the verge of the era of exporting cities, and we are determined to create a success story of the converg강원 랜드 슬롯ce of future cities and technology through PCM work across design and construction so that the developm강원 랜드 슬롯t model of Jamsil MICE can be exported to the world.”
